during the last days, our main focus was on OSG3B.
OSG3B means "3rd birthday of osgrid". The virtual world of OSgrid now exists for 3 years. Cyberbohemia exists now one year in the OSgrid, and we are more than satisfied with this virtual world. We love the freedom and openess of a free, opensim based virtual world.
During our first months in virtual worlds, our gallery region existed in a closed virtual world. It has it advantages to be in a closed world. You rent a space on a server, and thats it. No hassle with restarting regions, no opensim and windows updates, no server restarts, no fear of hackers using your own server as a platform to do evil things. Everything is managed for you, and you can work on what really counts: the content, the buildings, the creativity.
But it also has major disadvantages. The worst under those is imho, that you are not really the owner of your content. If your provider doesn't want, you will never get a complete save oar of all your content. This is such a big disadvantage, that we decided to move, rent our own server, and be the masters of our small island.
And, we never regretted our change to OSgrid. It gives us a great freedom, and OSgrid is a wonderful place to be. The people are nice, the admins are very helpful, and the stability is usually very good. Unfortunately, during the time of the birthday celebration, the grid was not really stable, and we had many crashes.
We made a small showroom on the OSG3B birthday region to present our gallery to the public. It has become a nice, small exhibition place, that we will use in the future as an exhibition place on Cyberbohemia. Soon, we will publish a machinima of the OSG3B birthday region, a birthday party, and our nice exhibition place
So there is only one thing left to say now:
Happy birthday OSgrid. We are so happy that you exist, and we will do our share to make you a blooming and living place. Best luck for the next year, and thanks so much for accepting us as part of your community
Greetings,
Galen
